If you spend the day removing 400 square feet of wood flooring chances are you'll be a little tired the next morning. Maybe exhausted since you stayed up until midnight...afterall, since you had the subfloors exposed you thought you should go ahead and paint the ceiling. Since you are not a professional and have a tendency to splatter. And since you've painted the ceiling you'll probably still need to paint the walls. And since you're going to paint the walls you'll probably want to decorate the living room how you've seen rooms in magazines and get rid of any decorations you have had for years. If you're going to paint the walls and redecorate to go with the new floors you'll probably need a new tv stand. Since you're getting rid of the tv stand you should probably go ahead and get rid of the rocking chair and side table you had in your first apartment.
And while you're working on the new flooring chances are at some point you'll probably regret ever buying an old house that needed work done in the first place. And chances are if you're working side by side with your spouse at some point the room might grow silent and you might come to the point where you really don't care if the floor gets finished. Ever. (see picture above). As it gets later you might even wonder why in the world you didn't pay someone to install your new laminate flooring. You might even think that you don't remember hurting this much when you worked on your house every day for 3 months and rushed home from work to tackle another project. Since you've installed new floors, painted the ceiling, purchased a new tv stand, removed old decorations and intend to paint the walls you'll probably need to install new trim. Chances are your husband will probably need a new finishing nail gun. if you're anything like me you'll encourage this purchase so other projects can get crossed off the list, too.
Chances are your photo album with your before pictures is now where to be found and the room isn't 100% finished so you'll have to show these pictures to anyone you can force them on.
If you're the girl to get the new laminate floors you'll probably be glad you've taken another step to make your house a home and LOVE your new floors. Maybe, just maybe you'll even enjoyed part of the time (all minus a 2 hour window) working on the project with your husband and remember why you bought this old house in the first place. (Couches and pink chair will be the only two items to stay. )

This might be my favorite post ever. I completely agree with you! We replaced all of the flooring in our house (save one bathroom and the man cave) and survived...barely. I didn't know I had it in me, though I once hammered the little slats down the hall so hard, I peed my pants...much to Adam's hysterical delight. I give you oodles of credit. This looks fabulous!
funny....we are currently working on floors and I swear 25 minutes ago, I thought, "Joey should just get a nail gun...we'll use it so much and he can get so many projects completed with it around here." it's the everyday isn't it, that we can all relate to?!
